Chapter 5
In front of the entire company, Vivian slapped my sister across the face.
“So this is the assistant who thinks she can climb into my fiancé’s bed?” she said loudly. “A cheap little nobody with big dreams.”
My sister, trembling, looked toward Lucas and pleaded, “Mr. Lawson, please tell her the truth. We’ve done nothing wrong.”
Lucas didn’t even look at her.
“If my fiancée is upset, then you must have done something to deserve it,” he said coolly. “Whatever punishment calms her down is fine with me.”
Vivian smiled.
Then, in front of all those wealthy guests and polished executives, she ordered people to tear my sister’s dress and humiliate her publicly.
That night, my sister climbed to the top of the company building.
She wanted to end her life.
But before she could, a group of men dragged her away from the edge, hauled her into a dark alley, and left her with wounds no family should ever have to name.
The next morning, a video of her suffering was delivered to Vivian.
Lucas reportedly said, almost casually, “Now do you believe me? Someone like her could never matter to me.”
Vivian wasn’t satisfied.
“What if you’re just putting on a show?” she said. “One time doesn’t prove anything. Maybe all it takes is a few sweet words from you and she’ll still come running.”
So Lucas gave the order to have people follow my sister every day. He let them torment her in whatever way they liked until Vivian felt better.
From that day on, my sister lived in a waking nightmare.
My father tried to protect her once and got his leg broken for it.
When I heard all of that, the room around me went silent.
After a long moment, I turned to my mother and said, “Take care of them. Make sure Dad heals. Make sure Nina eats. Don’t let her be alone.”
Then I picked up the travel bag I had brought from the temple and walked out the door without looking back.
If they wanted to use power and money to crush my family, then they had no right to complain about what came next.
I had spent years keeping my mouth shut.
Now I was finally going to speak.
